I just completed my Associate of Science in Graphic Design. I find that hardly anyone wants anything less then a Bachelors. However I am worried about persuing a Bachelors in Graphic Design and spending thousands on it, then not get a job. I have been considering transferring into Hospitality Management, since I’ve worked in the restaurant / hotel industry before. I think it would be more profitable in the end, however its not my passion, and i know that hotel/ restaurant management is stressful! But being a jobless designer in debt would be just as bad! ANY suggestions????
I’m very torn! hospitality management vs. graphic design?

Sometimes the only option for my prospects is Bankruptcy or Debt Consolidation. Now as a Credit Consultant my job is to restore and maintain a squeaky clean credit report so it kills me to send them off to file BK or consolidate their debt however it’s their only option. I prefer a non-profit in the Central Valley, CA (because that’s where my office is located) who can offer these services and become part of my referral directory. If anyone out there can steer me in the right direction I’d really appreciate it. Thank you

I am considering setting up an agency specifically to help people with advice on welfare benefits, debt advice and money management who are recovering from drug and alcohol abuse. The current position seems to be to refer to Citizens Advice who may have the information but perhaps not the level of empathy required to deal with this type of client. In no way is this meant as a criticism of CAB who do a superb job but are increasingly inundated with advice requests. In an environment which encourages multi-agency networking I thought a specialist agency may be beneficial. Many thanks

Though you may not realize that jobs are hard to find today, you should know that this is a problem in many urban areas and will be trickling down to more rural areas soon enough. You perhaps may have lost your job and looking for a new one in the same field or a completely new area. Many are looking out to second job to supplement their income. There are certain things that you need to be aware of when looking under such tough market.

First of all, when finding a job, you don’t necessarily have to aim lower than what you really want. Though you may need to at the later stage, you should still not give up looking for something you like. There is always the chance that you could still get that job that you want.

At such bad times, be open to different type of jobs. While you should look for the job you wanted, be realistic and widen your search to others. You may not have a choice when things are tight and many are finding a job right along side you. Be careful, but be smart, or you may find that you can not get any type of work at all. Things will eventually pick up, so doing this for a short time is still alright.

Use the same strategies you would always use when finding a job. Try all the channel from classified to temp agencies. You should use online sources for finding a job, as well as networking with others in your field. They might be aware of jobs that were never advertise. Just be aware that your hunting is going to be longer than usual.

There is only one bad thing in my credit report and that is one student loan that is in default. I took this student loan over 6 years ago. It has been hunting me every since I drop out of College. I have made efforts to pay it, but I have been unemployed for a year now. The last payment I made was a year ago and I just received a letter saying that it is still in default status. I called the collection agency and told them my situation. I am unemployed, currently staying at home with my kid while I take classes online to get my degree. I told her we do not have the money to pay the balance. She wasn’t very helpful. I even told her that I want to make the effort to make payments, but I need a job and I can’t find one at the moment. I told her I will start making payments as soon as I start working.
Anyway, I was wondering if it’s possible to make a debt consolidation with my loan and my husband’s student loan. His student loan is also in default.
Any good info will be appreciated.

I am looking to go over to work with Countrywide in the Account Executive Position. I know they do extensive background checks. My boss’s have all been jerks. I worked at a Property Management Company and he gave me a hard time when I was having a miscarriage so I terminated my employment. I was told by the new boss that hired me and they stated he gave me a bad reference. The other mortgage company I worked for I closed loans for them and they didnt fully pay me! I terminated my employment. The company I went to afterwards were EVICTED from their office space. Yes, the sherrif came!I know they may all give me bad references and I am not sure if that will affect me getting the job. I really want this I have just been with the wrong companies and I want to find a place I can stick to. Is there anything to worry about?Am I not going to get the Job, I did explain all of this to them at the interview?!Also, I am $1,900 in debt will that affect me getting the job? Please answer me.Thank You
I have plenty of other people as references but, the boss at the property management company is just not a great person and he did not want me to ever leave that job. I still live at the property and everytime someone who had my job leaves (and there were a lot of people) he always wants me to come back and work for hima and I say no! I just think he just wanted me to work there and that’s it and every opportunity he has he tries to hook me again as if I don’t remember how it was to work for him!

My bestfriend and I live together. We only lived together since OCtober. Long story short, I bought a car for him in february last year and that was the time it was paid for. Then 4 months ago he lost his job and because I make the most money it basically falls back on me. I know his situation and I felt I have been supportive of taking care of everything but recently I have been so worried about it that I wrote a very angry jornal entry about his lack of concern for me and what I do. He says that I am being selfish and that I am blaming my debt issues on him. Where as underneath all that anger all I was asking him to do is to atleast attempt to take care of his responsibilities. I would help him with anything but atleast come to me and ask for help. He didn’t even do that. So because I actually showed some anger he is pissed off and going on about how selfish I am and how I’m lumping his car to my 4 year long bad debt management skills. I’m lost please help.

… when she couldn’t even adequately run her campaign?

I liked Senator Clinton a lot before the campaign season started. She was by far the favorite to be the Democratic nominee, even up to late December of 2007, and I always thought highly of Bill. Over the course of less than half a year, she managed to run a shortsighted, abysmal campaign, and she ended up with appoximately $20 million of debt. What kind of leadership and money management is that? Granted, she did not do as bad a job as, say, Rudy Giuliani, but she still fell far below expectations.

So, how could people expect Hillary Clinton to mend our country’s financial woes and lead it into the right direction for four years when she can’t even adequately run a campaign?
